FinoComp: From Wollongong to the world

FinoComp is supporting emerging tech talent into careers with international financial organisations, all from Wollongong.

With its roots in the Illawarra – growing from the small township of Jamberoo – FinoComp is now part of London-based financial services software house Bravura Solutions, though it remains closely entwined with Wollongong.

There’s the office in Wollongong CBD, along with an important partnership with the University of Wollongong for its Fintern program.

The Fintern program provides UOW students with the opportunity to undertake internships at FinoComp as part of their degree, with the prospect of a role at the company once their studies are finished.

FinoComp’s Head of People and Culture, Leanne Isabella, is the driving force behind the program, which has seen over almost 25 Finterns go through the program with the majority taking on roles after graduation.

“I’m really proud of the program, and the fact that it has a great retention rate, and an even balance of genders entering the program, and staying with FinoComp,” Leanne says.

“The talent coming through the university here is so impressive and it’s a key reason FinoComp remains in the Wollongong region.”

Providing interesting and challenging development projects, maintaining a strong focus on people and culture, and the opportunity to work in a beautiful coastal city are key to attracting and retaining its people, according to Leanne.
